Spotlight Series Overview

Many of the GSE blog series have great content about how GSE solutions can help people across dozens of industries collect, move, and manage the data intelligence of their business. This series will get more specific and focus on the specific features of those products and solutions, and how they deliver value to people in specific job functions. The series will introduce the REAL people using GSE's products, and exactly how they find ways to save time, save money, and keep people safe.

Sometimes, seeing the value of a product as feature-rich as GSatTrack requires this kind of detailed deep-dive. The goal of this series is for each person reading the articles to have the opportunity to recognize themselves in these personas, and apply these solutions to their daily activity. We are confident that any asset manager who reads every article in this series will find at least one way to make their lives easier with GSE products.

trent

A Solution for Trent

Trent works as a Supply Chain Manager for a well known trucking and logistics company who transports and delivers necessary supplies for a number of retail companies within the Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas area. Trent manages roughly 350 employees at his location between drivers, warehouse staff, and office staff. Trent’s primary responsibility is to make sure that everything runs smoothly between receiving goods to the warehouse, managing delivery requests, loading trucks, route planning to the client, and safely and efficiently delivering goods on time. Trent must walk a theoretical logistical tightrope to ensure everything runs smoothly at all times to keep up with competition and make sure clients are always satisfied.

Trent’s Problem

With so many moving parts, Trent has to answer to many different stakeholders as to where key assets are, how efficiently operations are running, and how or where changes need to be made to improve the bottom line. Trent sends a number of reports to key stakeholders and has attempted various tracking strategies on different assets, but has struggled to find any single cost effective solution. Having to use multiple solutions to appease the various stakeholders Trent has to answer to takes time away from actually managing logistics of the company.

Trent is looking for the ability to share specific information to both internal and external stakeholders regarding a specific asset or group of assets without giving those stakeholders the ability to control or change important data. Clients want the ability to track exactly where their shipment is and when it will arrive to their business to deliver key goods. Regulatory groups want information on driver and company compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Investors and executive managers want critical information on the efficiency and health of the organization along with the ability to pinpoint key issues within the supply chain. Trent is looking for a single cost effective solution which would provide the ability to share only pertinent information with those stakeholders that require it without compromising the security of additional information.

Shared Views

GSatTrack is a universal cloud-based data visualization and management platform. The portal allows users to monitor, manage, and maximize operational and efficiency data for assets and personnel. The Shared View feature allows portal managers to share critical data with key stakeholders. A Shared View can be created to share information on a specific Asset, Asset Group, Geofence, Place, and/or Driver. The settings section of creating a Shared View allows portal managers to select a specific language, measure an Asset’s speed, fuel consumption, exact latitude and longitude location, and a specific timezone. Portal managers can also change Map Modes, Map Tiles, and Map Layers. Shared Views are easy to update and will show a Timestamp allowing viewers to see when each Shared View was last updated or changed. A Shared View can also be shared publicly via a link or privately with a link and password. The Shared View feature allows portal users to share as much or as little information as possible with a very specific audience.

Using Shared Views

Trent's Missing Piece

GSatTrack’s Shared View feature meets all of the criteria Trent is looking for. Trent needs the ability to share critical information with clients regarding the location and estimated time of arrival (ETA) for each shipment. Trent also needs to share key Driver and logging data with Regulatory organizations. Lastly, Trent needs to share critical information on Fleet Management and Supply Chain Management with important investors and the executive management team. GSatTrack’s Shared View feature provides Trent with the ability to safely and securely create specific Shared Views for each of these stakeholder groups from a single cost effective solution. GSatTrack’s API ability allows Trent to easily ingest GSatTrack into the companies software management infrastructure and start developing the necessary Shared Views they need.
